By default, without a metallic or specular texture map assigned, the smoothness of the material is controlled by a slider. Normal maps are a type of bump map. The smoothness parameter, shown in both metallic & specular shader modes.

In metallic workflow smoothness goes to the alpha channel of the metallic map. You copy & paste the roughness into the alpha channel of the specular/metalness texture which will do the trick (the rgb channels must be off though). Then i read somewhere on the internet that i should just check 'generate all outputs' under 'procedural properties' and then all the shiny disappeared.

This technique must be used in lets say games where you shoot at the wall, and you see all the little bullet hole textures.

I generated a roughness map, then inverted it using my script. I can't figure out how to 100 % correctly use the roughness map in unity. So i created a simple shader to help me with this task. Sometimes i need to quickly import pbr textures to assign to models within unity.
